Coming together

This group is brilliant. I went to a holiday talk/cocktail thing at Norwood the other day. Lauren Bush of FEED talked about her new plan to change the way children eat in American schools which is horrid and causes kids to get diabetes and be obese. Global nomads was there too and mentioned they are helping Pakistani kids skype with kids in middle America which I personally think will foster acceptance of different cultures and people seeing each other as other humans and not so different and will lead to less wars and violence. After the very inspiring little event, I practiced acceptance of different cultures by joining some very fun and brilliant Italians for dinner at Quinto Quarto ("Alora, now we go to the BEST Italian restaurant) and dancing at the place under Bagatelle and a nightcap at the Ear. An epically enjoyable evening which I spent the next day recovering from. Thank god for steam rooms, hot yoga and salsa. Yes, salsa is somehow a miraculous recovery food, try it, I swear. Like over a poached egg and toast for impromptu weekday brunch. Which I made for my friend Alexis and her Danish boyfriend while I stayed with her for a couple days (they basically had loud breakup sex the WHOLE time I was there) and which I might need again tomorrow because I have just been invited to a party for Anthony Haden Guest who is apparently "a famous art writer and drunk". He did a doc on eurotrash, sounds like a fun dude. I guess when I was moping about being sans boyfriend around the holidays I forgot that this is NYC :)
